You cannot take the ATM until you hold a graduation certificate from an ATP Certification Training Program: 30 hours of academic training and 10 hours of flight simulation, from a Part 121, 135, 141 or 142 provider. There is no self-study route around it. Separately, the FAA removes the Dash 8 Q400 items from the ATM on October 26, 2026; the CRJ900 questions stay.

Changed October 26, 2026. From October 26, 2026, the FAA's Airline Transport Pilot knowledge tests include questions with embedded images. What changed

Exam EngineIn preparation

Built on the Part 107 engine, written to this test:

  • A written reason for every answer choice, not just the correct one
  • Weighted to the current FAA test blueprint, so study time follows the points
  • Practice exams, filtered study sessions and full timed exams
  • A diagnostic that names the chapters and pages to reread
  • Filter by knowledge area, chapter or only the questions you got wrong
FlashcardsIn preparation

Built to the same pattern as the Part 107 decks:

  • Not just an answer: each card gives the reason behind it
  • The FAA rule cited on the card, so you can check the original
  • The exact volume, chapter and section to reread, with no hunting
  • Spaced repetition: cards you miss come back soonest, ones you know come back least
  • Card progress is kept separate from your exam scores, so drilling never dents a practice result

  • The test above runs today, on exactly those terms
  • When it is written we will say so here, and not before
