Buying, shipping and the test itself

Frequently asked questions

The passing score, what the test costs, which volume to start with, how updates reach you and what happens if a book turns up damaged. If your question is not here, the order help page will reach us.

How many questions are on the Part 107 test, and what is a passing score?

The Unmanned Aircraft General - Small (UAG) test is scored on 60 multiple-choice questions, and a passing score is 70 percent. Confirm current details in PSI's bulletin before test day.

How much does the test cost?

The fee is set by PSI, the FAA's testing vendor, and has been about $175. Check PSI's site for the current fee when you schedule.

Which book should I buy first?

If you are starting from zero, buy Volume One or the Part 107 Library. If you have studied before and need a fast review, start with The Fast Track, which is cross-referenced to Volume One.

How quickly will my books arrive?

Printed volumes are sent to our print partner the moment your payment is confirmed. They are printed to order and shipped direct, and you receive a tracking number by email. Most orders arrive in about two to three weeks, depending on the shipping speed you choose. Digital editions and the Exam Engine are available immediately.

Are the digital editions updated?

Yes. When a rule or the test changes, we update the digital editions and record every change in a dated source ledger. Updates are free for as long as the edition is in print.

How long does Exam Engine access last?

For the life of the edition. Your access runs from purchase until we publish the next edition of the Remote Pilot series, and every update to the questions during that time is included at no charge. It stays yours after you pass, so you can use it as a refresher before your recurrent training every 24 calendar months.

Is Aneroid Press approved by the FAA?

No. We are an independent publisher and are not affiliated with, endorsed by or approved by the FAA or PSI. The FAA does not approve commercial study materials.

Can I use military credentialing or GI Bill benefits?

Many service members fund the remote pilot certificate through their service's credentialing program, and eligible veterans may be reimbursed for the test fee. See our Military & Veterans page for details.

What if a book arrives damaged or misprinted?

Use our Report a problem form within 14 days of delivery and attach a photo. We will ship a replacement at no charge and email you the new tracking number.

Do I need all five Maintenance books?

Not always. The FAA issues one mechanic certificate with an Airframe rating, a Powerplant rating or both (the A&P). Everyone needs General, the Chart and Figure Supplement and the Oral and Practical Guide. Add Airframe, Powerplant or both for the rating you want. The Maintenance series page has a chooser that shows exactly which books you need.

Do you sell to schools and training companies?

Yes. We offer desk copies, quantity pricing, purchase-order ordering and classroom Exam Engine licenses. Visit Schools & Training to request a quote.
